Happy Tuesday, hope you all had a relaxing long weekend! These no-broil bagels will convince you that there is no better way to have a bagel unless it’s homemade! let me tell you bagels have never been this easy to make before and they’re kid-friendly to make. If you could have any kind of bagel this morning what would it be? And what would you have in it?
You ever find yourself desperate in the morning to find something to grab before work and end up leaving the house with just coffee and maybe a piece of toast? Or maybe you find that last piece of fruit. They say breakfast is the most important part of the day but how many of us take this to heart. Even with the bagels I grab off the shelf at the grocery store are something I have to think about if I really want them because as much as I enjoy a bagel, I’m going to feel like I just have a ball of bread sitting at the bottom of my stomach afterward, and a kind of heavy feeling.
What I like about this recipe is, first of all, they’re homemade and I know exactly what is going into my bagels, such as the greek yogurt. I like knowing that the ingredients going into what I am making are healthy and good for me. The great thing about greek yogurt is that it has lots of protein for you, which is good for you to start your day off with.
The other thing I like about this recipe is that the bagels aren’t heavy, they’re smaller than a regular size bagel you would get from almost anywhere else, but the right size to still fill you up. Plus if you want to load up on the cream cheese, peanut butter, or egg concoction you got going on, you can and not feel guilty about it.
The last thing that is great about this recipe is that you don’t have to boil these bagels. In most bagel recipes you would have to form the bagel and then boil it in water for 30-60 seconds on each side. But for these you don’t have to worry about washing that extra pot, you just put these right in the oven.
TIPS AND TRICKS
The original recipe calls for plain Greek yogurt, but if you are making a cinnamon, raisin, chocolate chip, or any other flavor that is on the sweeter side, I recommend going with vanilla greek yogurt to complement the flavors of your choice. Have fun with this recipe, add blueberries and lemon zest, or cinnamon and raisins, jalapenos, and cheese, don’t be afraid to create the flavor your taste buds are craving.
